Description: The Idaho Transportation Department's (ITD) Roads and Highways Road Network Linear Referencing System (LRS) SHS primary event polyline feature class includes only State Highway System (SHS) road segments that are the primary routes. A state highway system is a network of roads maintained by a state's government, connecting cities and smaller communities and serving as a state level transportation infrastructure. These roads, often numbered with unique shields, can range from high speed, multi-lane freeways to smaller, lower capacity roads, and their maintenance is funded through state taxes. This layer is predominately used for easily showcasing the SHS on web or physical maps.
